The classes in this pre-college art school are especially designed for high school students aspiring to
attend art colleges such as: Rhode Island School of Design, Cooper Union, California College of Art, Prett Institute and other
prestigious art schools in 2010 or in the
future. The classes will focus on academic drawing and painting for portfolio preparation to apply to college.
Prof. Ming Ren will share his knowledge and experience, and instruct each student professionally, tending to his/her own unique
needs. Emphasis is put on the drawing skills that are vital for the visual arts: space, shape, form, volume, light, line,
perspective, proportion, and compostion. Following the requests of portfolio from different colleges, a variety of subjects
will be practiced, such as drawing bikes, interior or exterior landscape, figures, and still-lifes. The classes will also
offer instruction in oil and acrylic painting. The student will learn various painting techniques in color, brush strokes,
mediums, grazing and blending skills in the academic style.
Each class is three hours long and is comprised of a small
group of students. Each student receives sufficient individual help and instruction from Prof.Ren. After each series of classes,
the student will develop his/her art level greatly and will have a better chance to get into an ideal art college.
